Wear It Purple 2025
Published on 25 July 2025
Active Monash is a place where inclusion, diversity and uniqueness are welcomed, respected, and celebrated.
As a part of our ongoing commitment to inclusion in our facilities and programs, we are celebrating LGBTIQA+ young people within City of Monash through incentre acknowledgement and celebration of the event, as well as themed group fitness classes on Friday 29 August.
Wear It Purple was founded in 2010 in response to global stories of teens struggling with bullying and harassment resulting from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity. The purpose of this movement and awareness day is to foster supportive, safe, empowering, and inclusive environments for rainbow young people. By turning the facilities purple and having staff wearing symbols of support, we are creating awareness and opportunities to educate the rest of the community about the importance of supporting our young people. We are working towards building trust with the LGBTIQA+ Community, and ensuring our facilities and programs are a safe space for the community to access. This aligns with the LGBTIQA+ Action Plan as well as Rainbow Tick Accreditation.
