Women's Only Sessions at Clayton Aquatics & Health Club

ACT!VE Women is a women’s only program designed to increase inclusion and access to aquatic facilities for women and girls in the City of Monash. Every Sunday from 6:30pm - 8:30pm, Clayton Aquatics & Health Club offers Women's Only casual swimming and spa usage, Teen and Adult Beginner swimming lessons and an Aqua aerobics class.

The sessions are supervised by female staff, with privacy curtains around the pool area lowered to ensure a private and safe environment for all participants.

Program Benefits:

  • Reduce stress, improve self-esteem and self-awareness by socially connecting with other women and girls.
  • Access to active recreation and leisure for women and girls who may not be able to access the swimming pool during standard operating hours for religious, cultural, or safety reasons. 

Casual Swim

Improve your health & wellbeing with us! Our weekly Women's Only Swim Sessions are designed to improve health and confidence in a safe environment. Participants will have access to our spa and pools* as well as opportunities to participate in our other Women's Only offerings including Aqua classes and Swim lessons.

Swimming Lessons

Become strong and confident swimmers while you progress through our swim program! As part of our ongoing commitment to inclusion to our facilities and programs, we are proud to introduce swimming lessons to the existing Women's Only Swim Sessions at Clayton Aquatics & Health Club.

Aqua Class

Aqua classes are water exercises designed to improve muscular strength, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility in an environment that has minimal impact on the joints. (ages 13+) We require participants to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during class. 

Class time: 6:45pm - 7:30pm
Casual cost: $21.20
Members: Free

*Bookings are open 49 hours before class starts. Please speak to a Customer Service Officer or call us at 9265 4888 if you require any assistance.

The following concession cards are eligible to receive a 10% discount:

The following concession cards are eligible to receive 40% discount:

FAQs:

Do I need to book to attend the session?

If you are attending for general aquatic use (casual swim or spa use), then there is no need to book. If you wish to participate in the Aqua class, you will need tobookinto the class 49 hours prior to class commencing. For Swimming lessons, please call us at 9265 4888 or speak to a Customer Service Officer to book yourself into a lesson.

Can I bring my children with me?

We welcome female children of all ages and children of other genders under the age of 6 to participate in the session with you. Please be aware and adhere to our Watch Around Water Policy.

What facilities will be available?

Clayton Aquatics & Health Club has a 6 lane, 25m pool as well as beach entry play area, learn to swim pool and spa. All of those facilities will be available (number of lanes in 25m pool subject to classes). There is a female change room with showers and toilets, as well as family change rooms available for use. 

Members can access the member lockers in the walkway outside the change rooms. Casual entries will have access to lockers on pool deck should they choose to use them (additional fees apply).

What do I wear?

We encourage everyone to be comfortable while using the facilities. We do ask that you wear swimwear appropriate for your chosen activity in the session such as bathers, goggles and etc. We ask that all patrons wear appropriate swim attire - no nappies, underwear, jeans/denim, clothing with zippers or long skirts in the pool. If you need assistance with appropriate swim wear, please speak to our friendly team.

Is Women's Only LGBTIQA+ friendly?

Anyone who identities as a woman or non-binary is welcome to attend our Women's Only session. This position is consistent with Monash Council's Gender Equity Framework.

However, these sessions are specifically targeted to women from marginalised communities who would not otherwise be able to access the swimming pool during regular hours.

We are also currently exploring the possible introduction of trans and gender diverse programs which may be a more comfortable environment for trans and gender diverse people.
