Attendant Support Initiative

Person floating on back in pool while being supported by two people

The Attendant Support Initiative program supports people with a disability to access all Active Monash Aquatic and Gymnasium facilities.

The program provides attendant care support and is run across three facilities within City of Monash, Monash Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC), Clayton Aquatic and Health Club (CAHC) and Oakleigh Recreation Centre (ORC).

With improved access to our facilities, the Attendant Support Initiative can help you to improve your health and fitness, participation, connection with the community and overall health and wellbeing.

Personalised support and assistance is provided for entering the centre, accessing aquatics area (all pools), gymnasium, facility equipment, personal changing process and support for the duration of the desired recreation activity.

Getting Started

In order to cater to your individual needs, we first work with you to create a personalised Service User Profile. This profile assists us to provide the best possible individual care and helps us match you to the right Support Worker.

Participants

Attendant Support is for people with a disability, of any age or ability, who need help to access the recreation centres facilities – individualised bookings, respite bookings or support organisations are encouraged to be involved in this program.

How to Enrol

The team at Active Monash believe that recreation and fitness should be fun and easy for everyone. Attendant Support can help anyone with a disability to access the aquatic and gymnasium facilities by matching you with a Support Worker. You choose the leisure activity and a Support Worker will assist you to participate.

Bookings are vital and sessions are one-hour minimum. Casual bookings can be made after the completion of a Service User Profile and require one week notice. Regular bookings may be invoiced on a monthly basis. Cancellations require 24 hours notice or fees will apply.
