Reformer Pilates

Thank you to our members and guests who participated in the MARC Reformer Pilates operational trial which concluded on Sunday 11 January 2026.

Reformer Pilates access at MARC is not included in centre membership or typical 10 Visit Group Fitness Multi-Visit Pack, in which patrons only pay for the service when they have access due to limitations on beds.

From Monday 12 January 2026 to access Reformer Pilates classes at MARC, patrons will have the following options:

  • Casual Entry (one pass): $28.00
  • 5 Visit Multi-Visit Pack $133 ($26.60 per session)
  • 10 Visit Multi-Visit Pack $252 ($25.20 per session)

Please note, there are no short-term changes to Reformer Pilates at the Oakleigh Recreation Centre.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Reformer Pilates cost?

We offer multi-visit passes to provide flexibility and value:

  • 5-Visit Pass – $133 (5% saving | $26.60 per class)
  • 10-Visit Pass – $252 (10% saving | $25.20 per class)

All passes are valid for 6 months from the date of purchase.

For comparison, boutique Reformer studios in the local area typically charge $30–$35 per class or require contracted memberships that can exceed $50 per week. MARC’s pricing offers a more accessible option while still reflecting the premium nature of Reformer Pilates.

Why is Reformer Pilates a paid option?

Reformer Pilates has significantly higher operating costs than standard group fitness classes. This includes:

  • Specialist Reformer equipment and ongoing maintenance
  • Smaller class sizes
  • Higher instructor costs due to specialist training

Introducing a paid model ensures the program remains high quality, sustainable, and consistently available, without reducing other group fitness offerings.

Why do we pay for Reformer at Monash Aquatic & Recreation Centre (MARC) but not at Oakleigh Recreation Centre (ORC)?

ORC operates with 20 Reformer beds, allowing the cost to be absorbed within a broader membership offering.

MARC has only 9 Reformer beds, making sessions effectively small-group training. This allows for more personalised instruction and individual feedback, but also means the cost per participant is significantly higher. A paid model ensures fairness and long-term viability.

Why can’t MARC add more beds or more classes?

Space within the centre is limited, and Reformer Pilates is already operating at maximum capacity.

Adding beds or increasing classes would require:

  • Additional studio space
  • Structural changes
  • Higher staffing and equipment costs

At present, these changes would significantly increase the cost per class and are not feasible.

I can’t always get into a class — why would I buy a Multi-Visit Pass?

During the trial period, demand was unusually high as members explored the new offering.

With the introduction of a paid model:

  • Attendance naturally stabilises
  • Members are less likely to book multiple classes per week
  • Availability improves across the timetable

Classes will continue to operate on a first-in, first-served booking basis, with improved access over time.

What happens if I can’t attend a class I booked using a Multi-Visit Pass?

  • Cancel more than 24 hours before the class: Your visit is automatically returned to your account.
  • Cancel within 24 hours or do not attend: The visit is forfeited.

This policy ensures fairness to other members and supports efficient use of limited class spaces.
